Today, Lindsay was the skipper, Parker was the navigator and Anna was our mate. We got to sleep in until 7:15 am, getting a whole 15 minutes extra sleep! It was raining in the morning so breakfast was enjoyed inside. Shortly after, the Charlie divers went diving and Parker, Mary, Anna, Greg and Nes began their course to become Rescue Divers, which was awesome. Meanwhile, Matt and Lindsey went to the painted walls, which is a giant canyon with a lot of beautiful coral. Matt also assisted with the Rescue Divers by pretending to be a casualty in the water for the simulation. Daniella, Jenna and Marc enjoyed a morning of water sports and snorkeling with the non-divers from Galilee.
We returned to Venture for lunch and made our way to Monkey Point. On our way there, Marc gave us a lesson about the wind and discussed high and low pressure systems. When we arrived, we hand anchored and still beat the other boats! For dinner, Daniella and Greg prepared tacos and Keith, our ASA instructor, joined us for dinner, which was fun.
After dinner, the Charlie divers went on a night dive at the tip of Scrub. They saw so many amazing animals like a huge turtle which must have been around 100 years old and a lot of big reef sharks. Meanwhile, the rest of the crew went snorkeling at Monkey Point. Aoife gave us a lesson about nocturnal coral life so that we knew what to look out for. Jenna saw a lot of sea urchins and a sleeping parrot fish. We then all reconvened back on Venture for boat meeting before powering down for bed. Today, our crew did a great job of lowering the anchor by hand Our miracle moment was when we saw the amazing nocturnal sea life.
