Delta 1 2015 – Day 7
written by Program Director, Jen Borderud
The Delta Crew awoke to sights and sounds of a bustling morning in the west end of Tortola. With a long and windy passage ahead of them, the crew settled in for a lesson on sail reefing with Cass and then Dylan, our skipper of the day, took charge and led his crew through pre-departure preparations. Once out of the mooring field and through the Thatch Cut, Grande Plaisance III took to the over 20 knot winds of the Sir Francis Drake Channel. With 2 reefs in the mainsail and jib, the Delta crew ran through tacking drills and fine-tuned their skills and ability to work together as a unit. Dylan, Pablo, and Chloe all took a turn at the helm and led their tacking team through timed tacks.
