Foxtrot 1 & Sierra 1 2015 – Day 10

The Bitter End Yacht Club to Anegada
This morning, both boats woke up bright and early at 7:30a.m. and had cereal, bagels and yogurt for breakfast laid out by Nico and David on Spyglass, and Eric and Reese on Miss you. Matt was the skipper on Miss you while Liam was skipper of Spyglasss. They both had successful de-mooring at 9:00a.m. and set sail with the help of their amazing crews. The sail to Anegada is the longest sail of the program and it took about three hours for both boats to arrive even with winds gusting 30 knots!! On the boats, they covered various sailing lessons and improved their skills.
Lunch was prepared on the boats, which was Mac and cheese, by request of the students. Myra, Nico, Marley and Eric did great jobs of stirring the cheese into the mac! After clean-up, Foxtrot and Sierra were loaded onto two trucks, which were lined with benches and drove across Anegada to a spectacular beach called Loblolly. Once we arrived, we had a sweet coral lesson from Grace, our Marine Science Intern, which was followed by a great snorkel and Coral Watch. Liam, Matt, Aidan, Vincent and Kayla spotted some bleached coral, which is ultimately sad, but there was plenty of other life, too. After some birthday cake flavored ice cream and beach games, Sierra headed back to the boats. Foxtrot decided to stay at Loblolly and eat dinner out! Paul had lobster, while Matt had conch fritters, Paige had chicken tenders, and Robby, Julie, Marley, Dylan, Eric and Reece had steak. Back on Spyglass, Aidan and Emily made chilli for everyone including the staff boat! KB also made garlic bread which was a great addition. After dinner Spyglass played a great game of Pictionary, while Miss You had a dance party led by Robby and Marley!
It was a great day of sailing and learning new skills and knowledge about coral balanced with snorkeling and chilling on the beach!
